HOW MUCH IT COSTS?
Italian and EU students
Tuition fees range from 156 to 3,985 € per year according to family income.
Tuition fees range from 400 to 4,500 € per year according to the citizenship. (Note: non-EU students can request that tuition fees are calculated according to their family income).
HOW THE TUITION FEE IS CALCULATED?
University fees are based on a Flat Rate. Tuition fees include a flat fee (or fixed / first installment, 156 €) and a variable fee (all-inclusive fee). The amount of the variable fee for Italian, EU and non-EU students is calculated differently, please see below for details. Payments are split in three installments. Please see the announcement for precise details.
For complete information please see this page (link). There you will also find a Tax Simulator for incomes produced abroad.
Please find below a brief description of how tuition fees for Italian, EU and non-EU students are calculated.
Italian and EU students
All-inclusive-fee calculated according to the family income, students must to take into account the fee area (Biology and Biotechnology is in area N°3, Table at page 2, document). Fee will be determined according to the bracket in Table A3 (page 11, please take into account the green column) based to the family income (ISEE). Students who choose this method of calculation will need to pay: a fixed registration fee (156 €), 1st installment (30% of the amount determined according to your ISEE and related to the bracket in Table A3), 2nd installment (the remaining part of the amount determined according to your ISEE and related to the bracket in Table A3).
Tuition fees for non-EU students are automatically calculated according to their citizenship. The amount of the tuition fee depends on the classification of home-countries in brackets. The classification is proposed by the World Bank. Students must upload study visas and/or regular permit of stay to have their tuition fees correctly calculated. Fees will include a fixed registration fee (156 €) + 2 installments. The cost of the two installments is the same and depends on the country of origin (see Table B in the tax announcement).
Flat rates do not apply to students who requested EDISU benefits (free meals, places in colleges etc…) or EDISU scholarships. Students who applied for EDISU benefits will automatically have their fee calculated according to their family income.
Non-EU students can request their fees to be calculated according to their family income. These students must go to the university fees office (Ufficio Tasse, via Ferrata 5, Pavia) during opening hours and delivered in hand the required documents. For more details see this page
